"I'd go barefoot all the time if I could."

We hear that sentiment ALL the time! Really. You CAN go barefoot much more often and in many more places! This site has tons of resources to help society become more barefoot friendly, but you must begin with your own two feet.

hiking barefoot

One great way to connect with nature is to hike with your bare feet on the ground beneath you.

There's not much better about being in nature than going for a hike. You can breathe in the fresh air and listen to the birds chirping. When you go with others you can point out new and exciting things to each other. It's so fun!

You may never have guessed it, but there's a lot of people who love to experience all that and feel the ground below them with their bare feet!

It makes sense to hike barefoot. We are natural creatures who live on a planet full of natural habitats. Despite that, we usually confine ourselves to developed, urban, and unnatural habitats called "cities" and "suburbs." By going out into nature and walking without shoes, we're able to add yet another dimension to the experience. It increases our appreciation for our surroundings and is more gentle to the ground on which we tread.

Next time you're out on a trail, kick off your shoes. Let your feet get a little dirty. It's awesome and you'll probably feel a lot better for doing it!
